How to cook Ggobe (Cowpea Leaf Powder)


 Ingredients

    Ingredients for 4 people

  1. 300 cowpea leaves
  2. 300 ml salted water
  3. 4-5 table spoons cooking oil
  4. 2 medium-sized onions, chopped
  5. 3 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
  6. 250 g groundnut paste

Method

  1. Carefully harvest around three baskets of the plant’s tender leaves, making sure not to damage buds.
  2. Wash the leaves well and prepare them for steaming
  3. After steaming the leaves for about 5 minutes, put them on a stand to dry for 5 days and then grind them using a mortar and pestle, to obtain a flour.
  4. Sieve the flour for purification. Ggobe is delicious when prepared as a sauce together with groundnut paste, beans, bambara nuts, and oysternuts.
  5. . It can be mixed into the sauce while cooking or at the time of serving.
